Microsoft obeys me
So, Microsoft were going to destroy the web. Nothing could stop it. So I wrote a mighty article opposing the plan, and now everything is alright:
In light of the Interoperability Principles, as well as feedback from the community, we’re choosing differently. Now, IE8 will show pages requesting “Standards” mode in IE8’s Standards mode. Developers who want their pages shown using IE8’s “IE7 Standards mode” will need to request that explicitly.
Good news, and it shows that Microsoft is my bitch.
Now, Mr Gates; look into my eyes. You are feeling sleepy. Paypal £1billion to Bruce Lawson…
Someone paypals you a billion quid, Paypal will take £500,000,000 of it, phishers will take most of the rest, and you’ll be left with £29.99 and some snotty emails from our paypal/ebay overlords complaining at you about password security. You may have to just settle for IE8 working.
On the other hand, you might want to use this malign power of yours for useful stuff like free beer…

hey bruce, sorry you can’t claim the credit. Gez Lemon flew to the states last week to do some work for microsoft, while he was there he bumped into bill in the executive bog at Redmond. What form of exchange occured between them is unclear, but next day the change of heart was announced…

As you know, Steve, I’m modest and unassuming, so I’m perfectly willing to accept that they might have perhaps listened to someone else.
And if Gez was in Redmond, it would be him and the famous Gez Lemon chinese burn, coupled with his legendary piercing eyes and muttered threats that he’s used to such great effect during the WCAG 2 process.
